Trending Story: Regional Minister blames devil for Chereponi violence

Ghana’s Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed has blamed the renewed clash between Chokosis and Kokombas in Chereponi to the devil.

According to the minister, special prayers is needed to stop the devil that brings about the conflict perpetually.
In an interview with Accra based Starr Fm, Mr. Saeed noted that the religious and traditional leaders are needed to intercede on behalf of the community and people.
With Chereponi, the conflict ongoing there is unfortunate…these two tribes have intermarried so for me it is the devil that has taken over the area.
“So we will get the religious leaders and other fetish priests to invoke the ancestors and also do prayers and we the security will support them so that they will forgive each other so that we live together peacefully,” he said.
Alhaji Saeed, however, expressed shock at the latest conflict especially coming on the back of a facts finding committee’s work.
Meanwhile, the latest clashes has resulted in the destruction of properties and some injuries.
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the area is also complaining of difficulty in accessing communities where scores of affected persons are in dire need of relief items.
The Northern Regional Minister has also assured that relief items will soon reach displaced residents of Chereponi.
